McFly Play A Triumphant Sold Out Saturday Night Show At The Piece Hall .

Saturday night saw boy band McFly take to the stage to play the first sold out show of their 2 summer shows at the famous cloth hall and they didn't disappoint playing a plethora of hits with endless energy, McFly proved they were at the top of the game with a stand out Saturday night show.

McFly’s musicality kicked up a gear as they step on to the stage at 9pm to a loud applause from the sold out crowd, from the drums of Harry Judd to the melodies of Tom and Danny and the physicality of Dougie Poynter on guitar, you could see the famous boy band that never sits back and is constantly growing and developing their sound getting bigger and better with age.
talking on a personal level Mcfly mean a great deal to me as a band, I saw my first gig about 8 years ago with my best friend Paige we had the absolute best time and the lads were a talking point in out friendship, sadly 3 years ago we lost Paige through the COVID pandemic with complications with sickle cell, I took a step back last night looking up whilst McFly played the hits and knew that Paige would be looking down on the evening with the massive smile .

You could tell from the crowd spectating that the lads are having the absolute time of their lives performing together again, and the new songs played Saturday evening seemed to have released a new surge of energy into the band, especially after a few years of each member having their own projects to work on which as made the presense of the band bigger and almost better. It was so good to see them  in sync and loving every minute of the show in the legendary cloth hall, it still amazed me they were playing a Saturday night show 5 minutes from my house.

Kicking off the night with Where Did All The Guitars Go – lead single from most recent hit album Power to Play – Danny Jones, Tom Fletcher, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd performed a hit-filled 90-minute set which also included One For The RadioStar GirlShine A Light, Lies and Happiness.

Anthemic number 1 smash hits Obviously and All About You provided the perfect singalong opportunities, and the crowd went wild when frontman Danny jumped onto the stage barrier during The Lost Songs’ Red.

Chatting to the crowd, drummer Harry said: “This is the first time we’ve come to Halifax so it’s great to be here. It’s an insanely beautiful venue.”

While Danny added: “I used to come here on school trips. Eureka!” (in reference to Eureka! The National Children’s Museum)

The much-loved four-piece ended the night with first ever number one single Five Colours in her Hair.

I just have to say the security at the Piece Hall is absolutely brilliant this year, from getting into the venue the security checks and procedures are quick and efficient, the security team are very polite with smiles and cannot do enough for you, they always ask how I am and how my day is going which really does go a long way, making the whole experience that much better, walking around the Piece Hall they are always friendly and approachable and the customer service is second to none, the standards have really gone up this year, I just had to give a quick mention and give credit where credit is due, security staff don't always get the best feedback and people are always quick to spout the negatives so I had to give the whole front line security team massive nod this year, not to mention i feel really safe in the knowledge the team are are at the top of their game !
