over the last few years with the Covid out break and the hard financial towns thriving towns like Bradford have lost touch and all seem a bit tired in the evenings and lack nightlife where people feel safe, this is definetly not the case with  Tickles which is thriving at the top of Ivegate.

Tickles have really made a name for themselves bringing worldclass musical acts right to there stage with different genres playing every week to adoring audience, from indie to reggae to ska to pop, you name a genre and Tickles have played it, this is why the vintage music hall is the place to be at the moment, the talk of the town everyone is raving about the events coming up, sell out past events from Ska legends Bad Manners to Irish rebel heroes  Derek Warfield and The Young Wolfetones, when I say this I mean it Tickles is a place for all age groups to enjoy, a place for everyone to come together to have a good time and enjoy the music and each others company and feel safe, with the cost of living crisis at the moment Tickles aim to keep the prices low and rarely charge a door fee for top class acts which is refreshing to see on these trying to times

Relying on word of mouth, avid social media sharing at customers just loving the place, Tickles is always packed to the rafters whether is be 4pm on a Tuesday afternoon or Saturday night at 10pm it really is the place to be for the best musical entertainment this side of Yorkshire.
I think a highlight of the week at Tickles as to be the very well known Vintage Tuesday's let's here more ..

It just so happens that Tickles have been running a well known afternoon for the older generation which is on its successful 9 years of running known as 'Vintage Tuesdays' the afternoon means so much to the older generation in Bradford and is 100% dementia friendly and music to the ears and a safe space for everyone to enjoy.

Speaking exclusively with  'Ellen Boyle' the Bradford legend behind the scenes at Vintage Tuesdays, she had to say

I was inspired to start Vintage Tuesdays because I noticed there wasn't anything specifically for our older Customers. They seem to have been completely forgotten.  I spoke to a few of them about it and they loved the idea of an afternoon dedicated to them which was age and dementia friendly,  Where they could listen to the music from their youth. Meet new and old friends, have a dance and enjoy the nostalgia.

Vintage Tuesdays has been running for 9 years now. It's just become the highlight of the week for many

We don't have a selected age group. It's for those who love the music of the 50s and 60s having said that we often include 70s and a few classic soul songs from the Motown genre. It's a real mix and there's plenty of Rock N Roll. People come through our doors and feel energised. Their faces light up. If I had to say what age group I'd say from 45 to 95 and many still able to dance. They have made new friendships and also caught up with friends they haven't seen for 40 or 50 years.

We have live entertainment which includes acts from all over the UK. The acts are picked that we know keep the crowd entertained. One week it might be Rock N Roll and Jive. The following week it could be 60s Female performing Connie Francis, Brenda Lee. We feature Elvis regularly as he's a big favourite. We have all the genres that appeal to this age group on Tuesday Afternoon it's their day.

Occasionally on a Saturday night I've dared to put a 60s night on. There has been a massive interest in it as younger people seem to have developed a liking for this genre. When you have Films like Dirty Dancing and Grease that were so iconic and programs like Call the midwife and That one about the queen ( forgot name) it seems to have rekindled a passion for the music and fashion if the 50s & 60s There are performers Like SI Cranston who was here in May that are packing out venues with their music that's heavily influenced by artists from vintage years.

In my opinion I think its wonderful that my hometown Bradford has this secret hidden little gem which has so mich heart and soul in its foundations, every gig booked is planned down to the tee and we'll thought as to what the punters would like to see, if is refreshing to see people travelling from different towns and countries bringing revenue to Bradford just to visit Tickles, I really enjoy a gin at Vintage Tuesdays and amazed at all the different acts coming through the doors on a Saturday night ... Bravo 👏
